A serendipitous meeting for one TNA apprentice!

This Apprenticeship Week, we’re pleased to welcome Morgan Brown, 19, to the TNA fold!

A career in construction

Morgan did a great job in his A-levels, achieving three As, but like so many young people, didn’t know what to do or what to study.

He knew that he wanted to pursue some sort of career in construction, but specialising in what was proving tricky for this young man.

A serendipitous meeting with managing director of TNA Andy Jones, one evening, went from a good chat, to a full-time apprenticeship role with this leading M&E company.

Morgan, from Great Wyrley in the West Midlands, splits his time learning about all aspects of the business, as well as studying one day a week in mechanical and building services at Bourneville College.

Commenting, he says: “When I left school I watched all my mates go off to college and uni but I had no clue what to do myself, so when I met Andy it was great and a lot of luck.

“Fast forward three weeks and I am loving it. I’m learning all about designing lighting and heating systems, calculations and how to use all of the high-tech software.

“TNA is a great place and the people are lovely – very supportive and encouraging. I know I have a good career with them if I continue to work hard, which I will!”

Andy Jones, managing director, said: “I knew within the first few minutes of talking to Morgan that he had a passion for the sector and wanted to move into the working world rather than go to university.

“His enthusiasm shone through and I just knew he would be a great fit for the business all whilst carving a great career for himself and importantly, while earning.

“We applaud young people who don’t always follow in their friends’ footsteps if they don’t have a passion to go off and study.

“Apprenticeships are a tried, tested and true method of recruiting and maintaining rising talent. Young people are able to learn from us, on the job, and we know that by being in a working environment, they learn fast and make essential connections for the future.”
